Yep, but then there is the responsible Middle governement.
that tends to the needs, and the neibhorhood.
Where Our gov, uses the TV, a proper Gov would have a physical person here, to watch and monitor, and gather...

What "responsible Middle government, that tends to the needs and the neighborhood"? I live in New England, where do you live? Do you mean the organized criminals who run the construction business, the delivery services, and the state lotteries? Where do you see responsible government? I see opportunistic self exploiters imposing themselves on a populace too busy paying their bills to be able to put serious effort into reshaping their government.

I think it's ironic that I wrote that message yesterday! At 11:30 last night part of the ceiling from the illustrious "Big Dig" fell on an automobile, killing the passenger. The local media has been telling everyone since the project started in the late 80s that it was inadequately executed for the money spent on it. Responsible government? In the USA I'll believe it when I see it; and even then I'll examine it very closely before I sign off on it!

Like most of anything, we don't hear about the successes. The failures, such as the tunnel, get a lot of attention, especially when there is a fatality.

It reminds me of a class I took too many years ago. We were discussing the number of frivolous lawsuits. It was pointed out that everyday in this country, millions of transactions occur without incident. It is only the ones that go wrong that seem to matter because they get the attention.

The entire government is not corrupt or inefficient. Nor are all businesses trying to sell us shoddy merchandise. Not every cop is just waiting for us to go 3 MPH over the limit. And not every good looking woman is thinking of hopping in the sack with me.

I like your candor and straight forward sense of fair play. I lived in New York City for many years and during my time there I acquired 100% holding in a very significant bridge structure that ties the island of Manhattan to Brooklyn. I left New York under stressful circumstances and have never been able to develop my bridge holdings as I'd originally planned. Now, because I trust you and like you, I'm willing to sell to you my entire investment in this bridge for $1,000,000. I admit I'm making a modest profit, but the houses on either side of the river go for more than this very reasonable price today. I'm only interested in selling to you because I know that you will treat the commuters who use this bridge daily with fairness and consideration. If you don't have a million dollars, tell me what you do have. I feel sure we can come to an arrangement. I want to put this bridge in the hands of a person I can trust.

Harry, Thank you for the offer. But I just bought a bridge in New York last week from this very polite African gentleman. He had to get the ownership out of his (unnamed) country before his government confiscated it.

He sent me a picture. It is a very beautiful and imposing bridge too. Because we haven't totally signed all the papers I can't tell you much more about it. It is named after one of the major boroughs in New York though.

I'll keep you in mind once I get this settled. Maybe we could get a business deal going. Thank you again. ;)

Dont think he understands.
That it wasnt corrupt or bad.  Its that those that have the positions of responsibility for the department ARE.  and staying IN the departments almost requires you to change.

OK, I got one for you, though I think over the next little while you might hear more
about it.

Mel Gibson was arrested for DUI. Apparently he blew 0.12, while the limit is 0.08.
Good, another drunk off the road.

The Sheriff's Department said he was arrested without incident,

HOWEVER...

The arresting officer wrote a eight page report alleging that Gibson constantly swore, used anti-Semitic language, and resisted arrest. When the arresting officer's superiors saw the report, they ordered it be rewritten without the defamatory comments by Gibson.

Any comments on the arresting officer being ordered to sanitize his arrest report?

the officer was correct.  And if you act THAT bad on a .12......I'd hate to see any higher.

If that is indeed the case, then the supervisor should be disciplined.  If Gibson made antisemitc statements, then it would be a bias crime and up the antie on his charges.  Why should wacko Gibson be given any special treatment.
His behavior doesn't surprise me.  When a person is intoxicated, their true personality often comes out, and in Gibson's case, it did.  Many in Hollywood have often stated that Gibson is a wack job and I guess they are right.

Absolutely, just like I trust rattlesnakes, they both have a place in nature.  Just be sure to stay out of their way.  Hay cops are supposed to be bad news, that’s why the “bad boys” are afraid of them.
