NFL, Nike, Reebok Suspend Michael Vick

Hasn't he already been busted for pot?

• Reebok said on Friday it is suspending sales of jerseys of National Football League star Michael Vick, who has been accused of sponsoring a dog-fighting operation.
• Nike Inc said in a July 19 statement that it would delay the release of Vick's fifth signature shoe, the "Zoom Vick V," which was to be shipped to stores on August 1.
• NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell this week suspended Vick and ordered him not to attend preseason training, pending the league's review of his case.

Vick and three others were engaged in a dog-fighting enterprise known as "Bad Newz Kennels" from early 2001 through April 2007, according to an 18-page indictment.  Trial is set for November 26th.

The NFL isn't Disneyland, but dogfighting?  I doubt he'll play again.  Will he?

I think if he tried to play again he'd be hounded out of the stadium. Sorry for the pun. This isn't a funny subject.

Actually, I've been watching other pro athletes on TV and they all seem to feel really bad about 'what's happening to Michael' and all of them seem to think if he makes some minor act of contrition, like giving money to PETA and being their spokesperson, there's no reason at all he shouldn't be back playing in another year.

As one really stupid, insensitive ex-athlete said, "He's got too much talent to be left on the sidelines", as if talent made up for being morally corrupt and without character. An announcer wondered aloud if any of the owners would take a chance to hire him and one of the ex-athletes said with a big smile, "There's 32 teams and it only takes one!"

Some other idiot said he'd have to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL) but first, the CFL is now honoring all NFL suspensions after the embarrassment of Ricky Williams, who wasn't a very good football player in the Canadian league and second, I wonder if Canadian fans would welcome such a vicious, stupid man onto one of their teams? Would anyone cheer for him? I don't think so.

Even if I could ignore all of the above, I think anyone who picked this guy to be their quarterback is just flat out as stupid as he is. Quarterbacks have to be smart and have good judgment and no team is ever going to go to the Super Bowl with this guy as their quarterback. I mean, he just gave up his honor, universal adulation and tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars - so he could fight and kill dogs. He gave it all up for dog fighting and gambling!!!

Jeeze! He's way, way too stupid to ever win a Super Bowl. Atlanta fans may not realize it yet but they're a lot better off without him.
