  I don't dislike Mac.
« on: September 07, 2007, 02:17:44 PM » by hhopper
I have always used a PC and am totally familiar with the XP operating system.  I have nothing against Apple/Mac but I can see no reason for me to switch to it.  The only advantage that I'm aware of is the easier networking.  That's the one thing I've had problems with using XP.

I started this Board because on Dvorak Uncensored this seems to be a hot topic of discussion argument.

I do get rather pissed at the way M$ implements things.  Not enough to switch though.  I'd be interested if someone on here could tell me why I might want to switch to a Mac.

Except for the Windoze Genuine Disadvantage, I have no problems with XPSP2.  Stick it behind a router, keep it updated, run FireFox for browsing and you don't need antivirus junk.  I run some very esoteric memory intensive programs that will never be made available for the Mac or Linux, so I'm stuck with Windoze, but I haven't had a BSOD in a year.  In fact, I only reboot about once a month.  Why would I pay Apple for one 'chine when I can get two that will do the same thing for just a few more bucks?

The only people I know that use Mac are artists and musicians.  And for them, it seems to be a good choice.  I don't care about "pretty", I just want something that runs.  But, hey, each to his own! (And yes, I own an iPod).

I have few problems with ANY computer...
Its the OS's I get pissed at.
Iv seen better.  I KNOW there is better out there...
But it hasnt gotten Cheaper..
Look at the Hardware configurations of the Amiga and the B' machines..
They WERENT expensive, to entail FULL parallel processing, and an OS they would run ON THEM.
I cant see why video and audio havent been linked with TBC(time base correction for MOVIES)
I cant see why MS has to CACHE everything before it can SAVE anything..as with downloads, and why NOT directly dump it to the HD, and Quit playing with it.
WHY the audio and video cards CANT do the work, insted of letting the CPU do the work of them...Smart cards that have ALL the drvers installed to run what is thrown at them.
After I tell my system to PLAY a movie, the CPU should tell the cards...PLAY THIS, and they do it, DIRECT from the DEVICE selected, and the CPU has nothing ELSE to do..  Iot would save 90% of processing on the computer...

Iv also heard that the duo core duo(what ever its called) REALLY, windows dont use ALL the processing power of the abilities of the second, forth or WHATEVER cores..
AND that tech is over 20 years old ANYWAY...  any one have a Monitor prog to monitor that OTHER cores, and see if VISTA is really USING IT??
AND if apple wants to KILL MS, they should START going to Multiple processing, and STOMP windows.

Since all computers from mainframes down to PDAs perform the exact same functions in the exact same way, I think it makes more sense to tell you why you might not want to switch to a Mac.

If you do, overnight you might turn into a yuppie dickhead zealot and that wouldn't be a pretty thing to look at in the mirror every morning.

AND,
that MS has bought out, Stomped on, and killed any service or program that USES any of their Proprietary formats...
And anyone trying to use any of the MS formats is SUE'd into the ground...
