Public Votes -- Send Barry Bonds' Ball into Space?

Bonds' 756 home run ball

From Wired Science

Who wants to go with me and throw it out the airlock?

Fashion Designer Marc Ecko, who bought Barry Bonds' record breaking home run baseball, has decided to let the public vote on its fate this week.

The choices: 1.) donate it to the Baseball Hall of Fame, 2.) brand it with an asterisk (a reference to the possible use of performance enhancing drugs) and then donate it to the Hall of Fame or 3.) launch it into space!

As Ecko says in an MSNBC article (with video), "the idea to let the public decide what to do with the ball is in keeping with the culture of the times."

Ecko set up a Web page that allows fans to vote for one of the three options.

For $752,467 I would've wanted both Bonds' balls.

I think Rosie's already out there. We'll have to throw it to her if we want to get it into low earth orbit.
