    It is hoped that if black holes are produced they will be small enough to evaporate, but only time will tell.

    Pardon me? What's with this 'hope' and 'time will tell' crap?

    As of today, we haven't the means to make a black hole with a life measured in more than picoseconds.  Evaporate it will.  In the future?  We'll need more than fusion power to create that kind of mass from energy.

    All bets are off should we discover the fundamentals of dark matter / dark energy.



    My memory's gone -- I can't remember the Arthur Clarke novel that has a space ship powered by a micro black hole.  Imperial Earth, maybe?

    There seems to a lot of room here for an all-encompassing, fatal error. I can only hope they have the first team experimenting with this stuff and not the guys who screwed around, making jokes in the back of the class.
