He says it, so it must be true.

President Bush said Thursday the country is not recession-bound and, despite expressing concern about slowing economic growth, rejected for now any additional stimulus efforts. "We acted robustly," he said.

"We'll see the effects of this pro-growth package," Bush told reporters at a White House news conference, acknowledging that some lawmakers already are talking about a second stimulus package. "Why don't we let stimulus package 1, which seemed like a good idea at the time, have a chance to kick in?"

"I'm concerned about the economy," he said. "I don't think we're headed to recession. But no question, we're in a slowdown."  Asked about $4 a gallon gasoline, Bush said "That's interesting. I hadn't heard that. ... I know it's high now."

"I believe that our economy has got the fundamentals in place for us to ... grow and continue growing, more robustly hopefully than we're growing now," he said. "So we're still for a strong dollar."

The stimulus package "seemed like a good idea at the time"?? I guess we just need some more robustification.

He's right, Michigan's not in a recession...we're in a depression.  Wait until the bottom falls out...

I really, really, really wish someone hadn't told this administration about the word 'robust'. As soon as idjits find out that word exists, they tend to overuse it and misuse it until they make my head explode.

Robust is the right word though ... compare with graciile in human evolution ...

depression:
Money is worth MORE, so we arnt going to GIVE you any chance to USE it, because we are RAISING PRICES.
Recession:
Your money ISNT worth much, we WANT more money for the CEO, so we are going to FIRE more people, FROM THE BOTTOM.

Recession and depression have NOTHING to do with PEOPLE,
ONLY how the company HAS to deal with a problem.
It has little effect on THOSE in the upper regions of the company, only those on the bottom.

We really shouldn't be so insulting with images like this. I'm sure Paranthropus Boisei would not appreciate the comparison with our commander guy any more than the chimps do with bush or chimp. Speaking of which, the site is having trouble again. I wonder if the NSA is getting to them.

Anyway, I apologize for starting this whole sub-thread. W should really be left in a class by himself.
