Little trivia question: on which model year did the first Buick "tri-shield" emblem appear?

I thought I might be able to guess that. I checked though and was wrong. Good trivia. I won't reveal the answer since I cheated.

How many years off were you?  Wink  When I first read that factoid years ago, I was surprised that the emblem had not appeared earlier.

I had some vague recollection of a first streamlined vehicle being from Buick. (Am I right?) I assumed that would have been it. That vague memory put the date about 11 years earlier than the actual answer. (Am I right about that?)

I'm still trying to figure out which "streamlined" car that was.  One thing that came to mind was the 1938 "Y Job" concept car, which was streamlined for its time.

BTW, I went to the Buick 100th anniversary car show up in Flint--it was neat to see Buicks of all shapes and sizes.  GM brought along all of the concept cars (incluing the Y Job, and the LeSabre concept from the 50s that was actually a sports car), and people all over the world brought their Buicks in.

Nah. I'm just wrong. Chrysler Airflow 1934. And I was thinking more like '49. Yeesh. I wasn't even close. Wrong car company and a decade and half wrong in years.

The Y-Job concept car was gorgeous--drop it into Google and check it out, since there are some nice large pictures of it online.  I think it predated other similar body styles by about a decade or more.  I took pictures at the Buick 100th Anniversary car show myself, and I may hvae a picture buried on my work computer somewhere...

Found a cool article about Buick's concept cars at the 100th anniversary:

The LeSabre is about the total opposite of the "old man's car" it would become... Wink
