The Clear Sky Clock And Chart - Weather And Sky Conditions

Click here to set up your own chart.

From Attilla Danko

The main page - updated for current time

Weather map - updated for current time

The signature icon is a "Swiss Army Knife" for the Earth and Sky.

The Clear Sky Clock / Chart is a great tool for viewing and animating current and forecast weather conditions from anywhere in the US and Canada.  Based on maps generated by the CMC (Canadian Meteorological Centre), you can see cloud cover, temperatures, winds, satellite, sky charts and other data.

Click here or on the signature to open a new window / tab for the chart.

To select your own location and create your own chart, follow the instructions on the page.

Once you have your location selected and your own clock up and running, click any colored box (time) in the rows for cloud cover, wind, temperature, humidity, etc.  A satellite map will appear allowing you to pan, zoom, and animate.

The "Nifty links" box has jumps for satellite images, a sky chart, sun and moon data, topo maps and more. Explore as you like.

The following thumbnails are clickable and updated for the current date and time:

KD:                 DFW
Hop: Tampa Bay
999: Ontario
Scott: NYC
Rudy: Detroit
RDH: Denver
Jay: UNH
Eideard: Albuquerque
Dvorak: San Fran.
Mr. Gilly: Oshawa Ont.

Create your own Clear Sky Clock page and bookmark it. We hope you find it useful.

Now that is cool.  Astronomers and weather enthusiasts use it all the time.  I keep a link in my toolbar so I can see forecasts for sky cover, weather, temps, winds, and a quick sky chart.

A great public service announcement for a forum / blog named "Cage Match"

Very cool. I played with it for a long time.

These charts are cool. However, the NYC one is a lie. There is never a truly dark sky in NYC, at least not without a major east coast blackout.

The "darkness" figure is based on the Moon and Sun (twilight) and does not take light pollution into account.  Now that would be some cool software!

The cloud cover, transparency, etc. are based on weather data from the CMC.

I updated the article (above) to include your chart.

If anyone else would like to add their name and location, post it here and I'll update the article.
