Greg:

Check out ubuntuguide.org -- this site lists a bazillion different installation options (the vast majority of what's available) and provides the apt command lines needed to install them. Basically, you can fire up a browser, control-c copy the line and control-insert paste them into a terminal window.

The support is also not coached in corporatese trying to get you to buy something! You can ask a question and get no BS answers. It's a refreshing change!

Instead, it's couched in the evangelism of Commodore 128 users who, in spite of having very strong arguments in favor of the superiority of their platform, respond to rejection as heresy as though the act was intended solely to deny them a just and richly deserved sense of personal validation.

Well, no, actually it isn't. But it's a sales pitch, none the less.

Actually I do.  Ubuntu was the first Linux I tried, and I went back to XP, Ubuntu just doesn't cut it, its desktop is neither usable, nor stable.

Some months later, someone gave me an Ark Linux CD to play with - that's what I'm still using today.

I can't believe everyone is hyping Ubuntu while something far superior gets no press attention at all.
