At least Peter R got the make right.

Does it have anything to do with The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy or a related book/film?

Interesting.  I don't remember seeing a car like this in the film.

It's a Jensen Healy, 1974?

No, Peter R. got the make, a Messerschmidt.  And almost the model.  Re-read the original article.  It's almost all there.

I think Hop's just about got it.

Maybe you missed the hint.

The film was Terry Gilliam's "Brazil", where the main character zips around on one.

KD, can't see the hint you laid plainly on our sight... It's surely a TG500, but the German license plate says R . CN 500... It's certainly a modern day rebuild and those are probably the owner's initials.
Either that, or it's a VW Beetle car based KIT. Those were pretty popular here in Europe. Basically you'd take a VW chassis, engine, transmission and suspension and put a fiber-glass Retro mock-up on it...

Joao, it's great to see you again.   I don't think it's a one-off, because of the pics that Hop posted.  Just for the "Brazil" link, which was IMHO a fine movie, ( and your persistence and memory ) you get 5 points.

5 Points left. (Offer not good after curfew in Sectors R or N)

1) It's not the "Ford Galaxy"

2) That hint was for 'me', hence, the Messerschmidt.  Or maybe something else, Charles.

Guess I'll have to design a scoreboard for this (any ideas?)  There have been many participants and some interest, so I'm thinking of making this a weekly Cage Match feature.

Any comments on that??

Good idea, as long as it doesn't replace the daily pinup!

):

BTW, keithernet was replying to the pic I posted which is indeed a Jensen Healey.
Can anyone identify the other cars in that pic?

Way to go, Kiethernet!

The car behind the family is a Rolls, but I can't ID the model.  To the left of that look like an Opel, but it's hard to see.  To the left of that, I have no clue.  2 cars right of the Rolls behind the family looks like an old Olds 98.

Just initial impressions, no research.  Oh, the red truck?  I have no idea.  TX is so full of 'em, they all look the same.

I'll never guess the car just to the left of the Healey.

Wish I had more time!  How about some hints?

OK...Feels good to be back...(I lost some interest on cagematch when you had the layout change...anyways...)

From left to right, top row, on Peter's photo:

A Ford Capri (80's), A Ford Escort RS2000 (man, those rocked...), The Rolls, A Morris minor and what seems to be an old OPEL Rekord.

The red left of the Jensen, is most certainly an MG/Bgt, or maybe an alfa-romeo. the truck is a late 70's Ford pick-up?

And what's this one?

No peeking the code...

Joćo is right about the Fords in the background and the Morris Minor. The RR is a Silver Shadow I and the red car left of the Jensen Healey is an MG B or MG C (not necessarily a GT model, since that had the same front as the convertible model). I can't identify either the red pickup or the green car to the right of the Roller.

And Joćo's pic is a 1960s Iso Rivolta, a very rare beast indeed.

Downstairs from my workplace (it's a kind of a warehouse more or less) there's this guy (in fact he is my boss's brother in law, so it's almost family...) and he deals in used classics. So it's like today I get a ride on an old Aston Martin DB4 the next day on a Lamborghini Miura (boy, it's hard to fit on those...). And one day he had one gorgeous, pristine white Iso Rivolta parked outside. Nice car combining the best of the Old and New world...

Are you kidding?  I wanted the "Daily Stage Pole" video, but we almost have standards to maintain!

We'll just call you "Lucky."  A DB4.  Holy smokin' tires, Batman!  I'd love to drive one.

Any photo submissions are welcome!

Never said I'd drive it (the dark truth is that I have no driver's license (and that sounds awfully odd for you Americans...) and I don't drive.) but I like cars nonetheless.

As for photos... well I'll see if I can get permission to post some...

OK, this one has lost interest.  The final 5 points go unclaimed, but everyone who participated did a great job.  Click and drag between the pointers for the answers.

The car model is ►a Messerschmidt BF 109.

The major hint (for 'me'), in case anyone forgot to Goggle, was NGC 3992, which is ►also known as M-109, the 109th object in Charles Messier's famous catalog.

I'll try and make this a weekly feature to run each Friday or Saturday.  Submissions are welcome, just drop me a PM thru the Cage Match message system by clicking on my name.

Thanks to Peter R. (95), Hop (10), Keithernet, Joćo, ECA and 999.  Keithernet gets props for identifying the Jensen Healey, Joćo for that cool pic, ECA and 999 for helping out.
