Is Your Car A Cop Magnet?

How about that Atom?  (Video at link.  It's worth it if you like cars and Top Gear.)

If $4 gas didn't convince you to trade in that big H2 for a Mini Cooper, perhaps your friendly neighborhood police officer will. It seems that Hummer drivers get more traffic tickets than drivers of any other make of car.

The data come from a survey conducted by ISO Quality Planning. The company helps insurers spot risks; or in other words, it helps insurance companies spot you, Mr. Bright Yellow Hummer.

Not sure if your car attracts more cops than a donut shop?  Check out the list to see if your ride is getting you unwanted attention.

The list also includes the 10 least ticketed cars.

Here's the link for the list.

Shall we take the Atom or the Silver 1994 Lincoln town car?

Funny that my 1992 4 cyl Camry with 120K miles didn't make the list. I wonder how much is the car vs. how much is the type of driver the car attracts.

I was curious how they accounted for the different numbers of vehicles of different types and the different numbers of miles driven, so I found the original study. Unfortunately, you'll have to find it on their site. At the moment, there is a link to the study on the main page.

http://www.qualityplanning.com/

They did a great job accounting for such differences by going by tickets per 100,000 miles driven. They also make some comments about the types and especially ages of the drivers of types of vehicles.

If you want fuel economy, maneuverability, and ultra acceleration, then this is a cop magnet like you would not believe!

I have seen and photoed one in stop and go traffic in Toronto on the 401 on a Sunday afternoon. It had Quebec plates, and when he got an opening it left faster than a scalded cat! The big Kawasaki will do that for you.
Be sure to scroll down near the bottom where the best views are.

Finally, don't miss the video near the top left. Once you see it in action you know why I buy lottery tickets! If I win, there will be at least 2 if not three in our Sept/Clan for sure!

I would want it modified to have the windshield option and some windows/doors, too! At least that would improve the practicality aspect.

I didn't see fuel economy on the list. I'd expect it to be better than your truck and much worse than my Camry. I'd bet it won't even get 25MPG. Do you have the numbers on it? I think if you want speed and fuel economy, stick to the Tesla, though the $100K price tag may be a bit high but is likely better than Ferraris with comparable performance.

You are correct about the Tesla being economical on energy. I understand that these electrics recharge over night on your household current source for about $1.36 Cdn. that will buy you only about 1 3/4 liters of gasoline here in Ontario.
Besides the initial capital investment being excessive, they have very limited range, and no head snapping acceleration!
You only get what you pay for, and we have not calculated all of the costs of all modes!
If we electrify on a vast scale, it will inevitably involve nuclear. While I have worked temporarily in both of the local big generating complexes, Pickering and Darlington, there are major ramifications to the financing of these highly technical and complex type operations.
The real problems are not the method or the means but the why. We have not come to grips with the ever increasing population numbers and what this creates in the form of hidden longer term debt load not just on the environment but on society's organization and leadership. Can we have a successful society at a total burden of 14 billion people? Will it still be a democracy? How can they possibly cope with waste disposal of solids, liquids and gases both non and nuclear?
Currently there are many errors in thinking that have been inherited from previous eras and cultures which our lazy minds refuse to address in reality! As I approach age 69, I realize that I am soon to be history, too, and that what ever I do at this point will not have much affect on the eventual out come, but that too is part of the cumulative problem, as I see it!

0-60MPH in 3.9 seconds.
275 mile range.
Charges in 3.5 hours.

Not bad, IMHO.

Enough sunlight hits the earth in 8 minutes to power the entire U.S. for a year. I'll search for statistics on how much of Nevada, Arizona, or New Mexico could do it. It probably isn't as much as you'd think.

We have more problems with the grid and with politicians than with availability of power.

Sorry I keep answering piecemeal. I must be a bit distracted today and keep going back and rereading.

No. We can't have 14 billion people, at least not for any length of time. The current estimate for the peak is 8-9 billion. I think that's way too optimistic (or pessimistic if you don't like people). When I think of sustainability, my short range starts with thousands of years. I don't think we can even sustain our current population for a century. I think that in the very short term, say 10-100 years, there will be a huge human die-off. I think the initial wave will take 10 years or less to reduce the population by 90% or more. After that, I would expect a long steady decline, possibly leveling off at some sustainable level or possibly ending in extinction. Graphs like this one with a different scale to the axes may be indicative of our future.

MS,
true,
but you also need to understand that WHEN WE GO..we take MOST of the animals with us.
Pollution kills MORE animals then humans do.  Except for fish
China and Japan, catch so many fish, the fish arent  able to RE-COUP what was already taken, with NEW fish.
Chemicals we use LAST YEARS most times, and killing off 1 PEST kills off 100 GOOD insects.

Look at the history in hunting, from the 40's and before..

I remember when I was younger, catching 100 trout in a day..

HUMANS have decimated ALLOT to critters on this planet..  And if we destroy the AIR or the WATER, there is no place to go..
If we destroy the land, and the aquifers...  we will loose out Plants and kill even more..just SLOWER..
Let us play around with Virus and other NEET THINGS, and as ANY human can tell you...HUMAN ERROR WILL HAPPEN..
IF some (Intelligent) NUT, gets it into their head...to start his OWN PERSONAL Jihad..
BEING a 1 world, with transportation and the speed of things in the world WE(humans) have made...  I can see it now, PEOPLE PRAYING to god to save them..
FROM WHAT??  from ourselves??  God, forgive the idiots..
