Marc updated WordPress and this started happening again.  It's some type of JavaScript problem.  If you turn off JavaScript in your browser, the comments input goes back to normal.  We're trying to find out what is causing it... most likely a plug-in.

I'm pleased to see Marc follows the time-tested Change Control system of never making an update to a production system until you've thoroughly tested it on a parallel, test system first.

That's I.S. 101. You learn it when you're a baby systems person and besides, it just makes common sense, doesn't it? It also shows you're a serious professional and not just some dumb amateur who bought himself a computer and then declared himself to be an expert. There's way too many of them around these days, aren't there?

I mean, if you just start throwing changes into a production system, you never know what kind of embarrassing (for you) and infuriating (for the end-users) glitches you're introducing and you can also end up corrupting all the data, too. If you don't catch it quick, all the back-ups can get messed up as well.

All I can says is, I'm glad he's not that unprofessional. People in I.S. used to get fired on the spot for doing stuff a lot smarter than that!

Don't give Marc such a hard time. I'm sure he brought up the site after the downgrade (certainly not an upgrade). He probably just didn't think of actually typing anything.

Marc, are you listening? Cináed has just given you some excellent beginner's SA advice. I suggest you take it.

The problem has been fixed and was caused by some comments plug-in.  I don't know who plugged it in, maybe JCD.
