Ford impresses with new gadgets, powerful motorFord Motor Co. rolled into San Francisco this week to show off its new Taurus and hybrid Fusion -- emphasizing the tech features of both cars -- so a number of local tech reporters were asked to go along for the ride.
Ford was trying to get attention for new gizmos on the vehicles, and there indeed are some serious gizmos on which to report.
Ford has jumped in bed with Microsoft Corp., and adopted the software titan's Windows CE platform as a basis for all sorts of cool features you'll be seeing in more Ford cars. This is all part of the Microsoft Sync platform.
This, of course, doesn't mean Windows will be driving the car. Instead, Windows will control the GPS, voice-activated music system, displays and whatever else they can dream up to excite the user.
