  Think your a good person?
« on: April 17, 2006, 01:03:37 PM » by UnKnownViper
Think that being athiest is a good idea? If you have an open mind, you wont think so anymore. ALL people have broken ALL of the Ten Commandments. And if you are not saved you are in danger of God's judgement. Please take the 5 minutes to read this....

1. You shall have no other gods before me.

Have you always put God first in your life? Jesus said to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength-- so much, that your love for your parents, brothers and sisters, friends, and even your own life is like hatred compared to your love and devotion for God.

2. You shall not make for yourself any idol. (or graven image)

Who is God to you? Is he only a god of love and mercy who would never judge anyone and never cast anyone into Hell? If that's your god, then you're right. Your god couldn't cast anyone into Hell because he doesn't exist. He's a figment of your imagination. You've created a god in your own mind that you're more comfortable with. You may call it your "personal belief," but God calls it idolatry. It's the oldest sin in the Book, and the Bible warns that idolaters will not inherit the kingdom of heaven.

3. You shall not take the name of God in vain.

Have you ever used God's name as a curse word? If you have, you've taken the holy name of God-- who gave you your life, your family, and everything precious to you-- and used it as a filthy, four-letter word. Hitler's name wasn't even despised enough to be used as a curse word! If you have used God's holy name in that manner, you are a blasphemer and the Bible says "God will not hold him guiltless who takes the name of the Lord in vain."

4. Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy.

God commands that we set aside one day in seven. Have you ever been guilty of breaking this Commandment?

5. Honor your father and your mother.

Have you always honored your parents in a way that's pleasing in the sight of God? Ask Him to remind you of the sins of your youth. You may have forgotten them, but God hasn't.

6. You shall not murder.

Jesus warned "Whoever is angry with his brother without cause, is in danger of judgment," (Matthew 5:22) and the Bible says, "He who hates his brother is a murderer," (1 John 3:15). God sees hatred in the heart to be as wicked as murder. We can violate His Law by attitude and intent.

7. You shall not commit adultery.

Jesus warned,"You have heard...'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." Have you ever looked at another person with lust? The Bible says that adulterers and fornicators (those who have had sex before marriage) will not enter the kingdom of heaven.

8. You shall not steal.

Have you ever stolen anything (even if it was something small)? The value of the thing stolen doesn't matter; petty theft is still theft. Have you ever taken anything that belonged to someone else (from the office, school, parents, etc.)? If you have, that makes you a thief.

9. You shall not lie. (bear false witness)

Have you ever told a lie? Then you are a liar. How many murders do you have to commit to be a murderer? Just one. If you have told even one lie, that makes you a liar. The Bible warns that all liars will have their part in the Lake of Fire (Revelation 21:8). You may not think deceitfulness is a serious sin, but God does.

10. You shall not covet.

This means we should never desire anything that belongs to another person. Not their house, nor their car, nor their money, nor their wife, nor their lifestyle, nor anything that belongs to our neighbor.

Can any of you say we are not guilty of breaking these Commandments?

This is what the Bible means when it says, "All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God."

Can you see your predicament? You are guilty of sinning against God Himself, and, because you have a conscience, ("con"=with, "science"=knowledge) you have sinned "with knowledge."

Isn't it true that every time you lied, stole, or lusted, etc., you knew it was wrong?

Does the fact that you have sinned against God scare you? It should.

You have actually angered Him by your sin.

The Bible says His wrath abides on you, that you are an "enemy of God in your mind through wicked works."

Perhaps you think God is good and because of his goodness He will overlook your sins?

But if you knew of a human judge who turned a blind eye to the crimes of a guilty rapist... would you describe him as a "good" judge?

No.

That would be a "corrupt" judge.

God could never be a corrupt judge.

He will punish all the rapists, murderers, and thieves... But He won't stop there. He will also punish all liars, the lustful, adulterers, idolaters, and blasphemers.

The place of etneral punishment is Hell.

Put me down for 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

Oh, and I was in Vegas yesterday (Easter). I'm sure that's another strike, too.

You're making the same mistake that many religious people make. You are using the bible to base your argument. The validity of the bible is not established and those your are debating with may reject the bibles credibility. You are better to frame your argument around your evidence that the bible is legit.

In other words it's not a valid argument to say, "I believe in god because the bible says so.", because the bible itself is in question.

I also reject the notion that I'm a bad person because I don't share your religion. I don't lie, steal, cheat, kill, I pay my taxes, support myself (not on welfare), and I help my neighbor by fixing his computer for free (he is a retired minister - and thinks I'm a great person).

So tell me, am I bad, evil, or what? If we shared space in a room, would my presence offend you?

What a great religion Christianity is.  You're pretty much screwed without giving it much thought.  Of course if I were Catholic I could confess or tide my way out of my (supposed) sins.

Honoring the Sabbath? .....Hmm when is that again? Saturday or Sunday? No matter which a large segment of the population has it wrong.

Atheists not only fail to believe in a god or gods. They do not recognise the bible as being a valid representation of anything real.  Atheists do not not suffer from guilt or anxiety and most importantly, do not care what other think.

1. Its obivious hello? The Bible is the oldest book in time of course its correct because theres evidence that it is. Dont say that the Bible is incorrect when you self have not read it.

2. Stealing once in your life makes anyone a thief.  Telling one lie is still being a liar. Killing is the same as hating the person next to you because God says you have commited murder in your heart.

Read the Bible before you say anything to disprove it.

And if you dont you still have to face God on judgement.

No it's not obvious. The bible is bunk to millions of people.

Once people worshiped Zeus, Thor, Punchau, Quetzalcoatl, and thousands of others way before your god was ever conceived of. No bible anywhere. Those people believed just as strongly as you. Don't you fear offending Zeus?

Oh, please present this evidence of the bible being correct. Also I would encourage you to check out the Million Dollar Challenge. If you can prove god exists you win $1,000,000. This is not a joke and the money is already in a trust waiting for you. If you win I will accept whatever religion you tell me to and I will publicly denounce atheism. I would like a small % of the winnings because I did refer you, but it is not required.

Why would you say I have not read the bible? How do you think I came to these conclusions? I spend many years in church and read all that religious crap. That's how I know there is no god. You should know better than just throwing out assumptions. Are you new to Internet forums?

Don't take it personally that I disagree and reject your religion (and all others). If you do you have bigger problems that some stranger on the Internet.

What kind of argument is this?  :D The Bible's credibility depends on the faith of the reader.

So if theres no God, and your an athiest theres no way you would be here on this earth right now without believing in evolution because what else is there?

Ill disprove it right now.

Heres a couple examples...

If somebody saw a brand new car of somebodies and asked them " hey what make is it?" and they told you "Oh this beauty? it doesnt have a make." "Then they would say " Im not an idiot whats the make?" And then they would say "It doesnt have a make it fell apart in my backyard, it took millions of years."

Now doesnt that sound unreasonable? Well when you see a painting, a car, a 10 story building, or anything around you you know somebody created it, it didnt just fall together. There was a designer.  Just like the Earth, theres no way it could just fall together, there had to be a designer.

If I told you that the Pepsi can was created over billions of years ago, and that the colors red, blue, and white just came outta nowhere and just formed itself on the side of a piece of metal the shape of a cylinder and just formed the words Pepsi on the side, with a tab on top and a liquid inside? Thats inconsevible!(ok maybe thats a bad example but if you think about it, it makes sense.) Things dont just fall together, my computer didnt evolve millions of years ago into a tower a monitor and a key board etc.

And theres no way the Earth did either. Basicaly: Building=Builder, Painter=Painting. Things dont form on there own.

(damn... Dvoraks debate Cage Match is fun!)

oh... I find it very hard to believe you have read even 10 pages of the King James Bible.  (which is the exact wording from the original Bible)(one of the kings in the 1700's named King James converted it to english and it was the first translation into english.)

What a terrible argument.

If everything has to be designed/created, then who created god? If you don't know the answer to a question you can't just create something (religion) to fill in the gaps.

Is your god all powerful? Can your god create a mountain so tall that even he cannot climb it? No matter the answer the concept of "all powerful" defies logic.

What a terrible argument.

I think he's just catholic for the wine.

Viper, let's get back to what's important: My sins. Pick a number, and I'll tell you what I've done.

The King James Bible was hardly the first English language translation (it came several hundred years after earlier English translations) and went through several revisions. It's based mainly on the Textus Receptus, which itself went through several corrections, and the Masoretic Text (neither of which are the "original Bible").

King James himself had no hand in its translation other than allowing the translation to be done in the first place. It was first published in 1611.

Wikipedia has some good history and info about the King James version here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_James_Version_of_the_Bible

:D Nice try.  However I believe life is fundementally different than a car or a watch.

Have you ever heard of "emergent properties"?

Intelligent Design is a protestant thing, I think it is paired with the notion of sola scriptura, or the belief that the Bible is all one needs to get to Heaven, so since the Bible does not mention dinosaurs, then dinosaurs must be a big hoax!  :o  ;D

SPH  drisproving... when you havent read it eh?
Genesis chapter 6 verse 4. Damn people are so stupid, its there in the first book for crying out loud!! and theres even more verses about them.

And no one had to create God because God is God...

Im telling you.. just atleast read matthew or revalation...

And stop saying that it doesnt say this or that because most of you havent even seen a Bible. It all makes sense. A good movie doesnt make sense until you watch the whole thing or even a book....

I dont think God had over 40 of his people write the Bible for us, to have you all perish.

Good, evil. Everlasting life, or a sinfull eternity in an never consuming fire for eternity.
