Politics Central / Bushwhacker / Re: NSA reading our e-mails?

nosbig, I’m concerned, I am very concerned… and I would use some kind of encryption if I was to send some sensitive info in my e-mail, just like I would use wire instead of sending $10,000 in cash via regular mail. But what I’m concerned about is the fact that I can’t trust this gov’t at all - in my opinion every citizen should have a healthy dose of distrust in his/her gov’t, and question from time to time if the gov’t decisions were correct, but when we start asking ourselves “OK, what’s next?” then really what’s next?
Pretty soon, when seeing something out of ordinary, we’ll be asking ourselves is it some criminal or is it government, ‘cause the difference in their actions will be none.

It is rocket science to many people out there, and why should I even have to worry about my own government spying on me and invading my privacy? I don’t want them to read my e-mails, listen to my phone calls, or collect my phone records, just as I don’t want them to install some secret (or not so secret) cameras in my home, etc. – my life is mine! Argument that I send my e-mail in clear text and everybody can read it, so it’s my fault that they will read it, is completely baseless – every child (older, let say, than 10) can open envelope, yet your mail is protected and you expect your government to get a court order before they read it, now, what is the percentage of people that know how to read your emails??... Ohh, but I guess arguing this topic is quite pointless since concept of privacy in free society is almost lost with this gov’t, on the other hand it looks like policy of spreading fear in order to gain more control is working. And if I remember correctly U.S. Supreme Court was dealing with the employee – employer and not government – citizen situation (if I’m wrong please point me to the right case)

And a point of fact...What do lawmakers DO, after they have created ALL the laws?? Its called BUSY work, but you still arnt getting much done.
Not that I see how this relates to legality of income tax, but no, they didn't create all the laws, not yet. The way I see it, they still have hundred and one way of screwing us, and with the help of big corps they will get it done! |

I've been an ex-pat for the past 15 years. I've lived in Australia and am now living in Ireland. One thing I can say is that in Australia and Ireland people work to live. Were as, in the US people live to work. The Plus sides of living outside the US are longer paid holidays(five to six weeks), access to healthcare for all, Private family healthcare for less then €1000 a year, no property tax, better chances of getting laid, excellent school systems ,tastier chocolate and governments that have a harder job of fooling its citizens. Plus side to living in US. Its cheaper to buy stuff
Very, very, very true ("no property tax" - this depends on the country). I miss Europe, especially excellent natural food .... |
